People in Adamsdown, Canton and Riverside are making a fuss about dog mess.

It's such an issue that Adamsdown Communities First and Cardiff South West Neighbourhood Management both decided to tackle the problem. They asked community arts charity People Around Here to lead a project that encourages people to be responsible owners and report dog fouling.

This spring, People Around Here toured seven primary schools with Megan - a chocolate brown Labrador, and the star of the anti-dog fouling campaign. The interactive assemblies went down a storm, packed with singing, live art, two dogs and even air guitar. Through music and art, almost 2000 pupils learnt about the dangers of dog mess, the penalty for leaving it around, and how to deal with it and be responsible dog owners.

After the assembly performances, pupils were treated to cartoon workshops. They created comic strips based on stories about Megan's overwhelming desire for food, which keeps getting her into trouble. 420 pupils took part in the competition to create the best comic strip. Winners were picked from each of the schools: Adamsdown Primary, Tredegarville Primary, Stacey Primary, Kitchener Primary, Radnor Primary, Lansdowne Primary and Seven Road Primary.
